Due date for ITR filing for AY 2017-18 extended

ITR filing for AY 2017-18 is extended to Aug 5th, 2017

July 31, 2017

The CBDT has extended the due date of ITR filing for AY 2017-18 to 5th of August, 2017.

The purpose of this extension for Income Tax Return filing is said to be problems which occurred during PAN-Aadhar linking which is mandatory for ITR filing as well as some technical issues which had rendered the Income Tax e-Filing website inaccessible.

Another relief that has been provided by the CBDT is that PAN and Aadhar need not be linked at the time of returns filing. Just quoting the Aadhar Number or Enrollment ID is enough to complete the return filing process.

However, the is a snag that the returns will only be processed after PAN and Aadhar are linked. For this reason, the due date for linking PAN and Aadhar is fixed as Aug 31st, 2017.

So do ensure that file your returns by August 5th and link your PAN and Aadhar by 31st August
